What the hell is this?

I have talented friends.

More importantly, these extremely creative friends work across a plethora of different disciplines: web design & development, motion graphics, clothing design, film, Flash development and 3D production. This diverse range of disciplines is grounded in strong design, aesthetics and creativity. These are the core themes Design Is Stupid will explore, while simultaneously examining how creativity and design are applied to specific creative industries.

Why?

In this day and age, the pace of learning is accelerating at an exponential rate. Its easy to forget that at one point in time, we didn’t know things we now consider fundamental to our skillset, our jobs, our lives. The phrase “I wish I knew that when I was starting out” comes to mind, therefore it is our jobs as passionate creative people to pass along as much knowledge to those just beginning their own journeys.

I recently had the opportunity to speak to graduating seniors at my alma mater, James Madison University, to help prepare them for their journeys as creative professionals. I remember sitting in those same desks just a few years ago, wanting to learn more but not knowing where to look. It took some alumni to come in to point me in the right direction and the rest as they say, is history. I want to contribute to the dissemination of valuable information that will benefit the creative community.

How?

I will be interviewing my friends (and hopefully later other creative professionals)

Questions? Comments?

Because the site is in a nascent state, I’d love to hear some ideas on how to move the project forward. Let me know any questions you might like to hear answered. If you’re interested in being interviewed, just email me and we’ll set something up.
